Challenge
Lincoln desired a custom training program to meet the current challenges they were facing: a new facility being built, new workforce and lack of technical skills in the area, and the obstacle of maintaining an efficient plant with multiple departments and processes. They also desired to take over their training program in 3 years.
Solution
MST conducted a Job Task Analysis (JTA) to determine the skill sets necessary for technicians. Based on the results of the JTA, MST then created a Pay-for-Skills program, as well as developed an Online Entrance Test to be used for new hire candidates. MST also provided an Assessment Test to be used for establishing a training program and placing new hires within the Pay-for-Skills program. Due to sustainability plans, MST provided Industrial Maintenance Training Packages for each skill area defined in the JTA. These training packages were used by MST instructors to facilitate training, and would then be used by future Lincoln instructors that were trained by MST.
Results
Lincoln continues to leverage MST's training packages and assessment tools in order to assess new hires and facilitate training for their existing technicians.
